According to Couper Moorhead of the Heat, it's Adebayo's second career buzzer-beater, with the first coming against the Brooklyn Nets in 2021.
The Heat, who led by as many as 17 points, saw a double-digit halftime lead disappear in the second half. The Pistons eventually tied the game at 101 apiece with 42.1 seconds to go, setting up Adebayo's heroics from 30 feet out.
For Adebayo, it's his fourth made three-pointer this year, a career-high. The All-Star is also chunking it up from beyond the arc more often, with 17 attempts during the 2023-2024 campaign, the most over his seven-year NBA career.
Sunday's theatrics capped off a big afternoon for Adebayo, who recorded 20 points and 17 rebounds. Likewise, forward Duncan Robinson was instrumental to the Heat victory, finishing with a game-high 30 points, including seven three-pointers.
Meanwhile, the win over the Pistons was massive for the Heat, who look to escape the play-in tournament. They improved to 37-30 and are just a half-game behind the Indiana Pacers (38-30), with a game in hand for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.
